About this deal

Couple this with the forgiveness of a character who harbored a Nazi murderer, and I was feeling a bit out of sorts upon finishing this.

Standing at Ta’Qali, where an airfield received in one single raid the same tonnage of bombs that crippled Coventry, I felt I’d been given permission. I ended up skimming some of Lyn’s scenes toward the end because I could tell it was a lot of filler.

Which means that all the back and forth that occurs while reading the book is really unnecessary and actually detrimental to staying immersed in either story. When romance and the world of espionage impinge on her life, she becomes a vital part of the eternal struggle between good and evil regimes that still exists today. Like previous entries in The Checquy Files, Blitz is fun, humorous, original, and has great female characters. There are other books available on the subject, indeed you can read about the blitz in many general books about the Second World War, but I doubt whether a more readably detailed volume has been published about it.

After completing her training, she is assigned to examine a string of brutal murders and quickly realizes that all bear the unmistakable hallmark of her own unique power. The official reasoning was that to give out precise details of location and damage done in other cities would be to assist the enemy in their planning for future raids.

But there's one thing and only one thing that happens in Bridget's story that impacts Lyn in any way: the German airman manages to survive in London for a while and spends some time with some prostitutes. Elizabeth Bowen’s 1948 novel is one of the most gritty, uneasy, and compelling accounts I’ve read of the civilian experience of war. With sections on meanings of titles, form, composers and common terms and signs, this fabulous resource will make exam preparation so much easier.

With a relaxed style and array of fun characters, including an agent who makes people who look at him see their mother and a baby goat that turns into a little boy, O'Malley's latest will appeal to his many followers. Billy Coke and Isle Magnusson’s stories are a completely different take on the usual WW2 stories, and I particularly enjoyed reading about a lesser-known history of the decadent days of pre-war Berlin, and then later life under German occupation in Oslo.Although this is the third in series, it’s also a great place to jump into this terrific (and humorous) fantasy series. I would usually read the first and last few pages of each chapter of the Blitz story to see if anything had changed (no, it had not). The three resolve to tell no one about it, but they soon learn that a crew member is missing from the downed bomber. My Story: Blitz” is the fictional diary of twelve year-old Edie (short for Edith) Benson, a girl from Lewisham in London.
